My story was published and the formatting is incorrect. What should I do?

When your story is published to Literotica, all formatting and styling must be standardized to work with our publishing standards. During this process, it is possible that complex story formatting (especially that found in some Word document) will be simplified, changing the appearance of the story.

Historically, the most common cause of a story looking “broken” on Literotica is a long string of unbroken characters that exceeds the page width. Examples of this include:

  • “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” (etc., so that it’s longer than the page width)
  • ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ (etc., so that it’s longer than the page width)

You can keep this from happening by not including long strings of text with no spaces in your story. If you want to use dividers to separate sections of your work, use short strings like “+++++++” or “* * * * *”.

Other reasons that a story might look “broken” to an author is if you have included formatting which we do not support. In general, Literotica supports bold text, underline text, align center, and align right. We do not support indents, justified text, font face changes, font color, font size, or other complex formatting. The reason for this is that Lit readers expect a standardized reading experience that must work across a huge number of different devices, many of which do not support complex formatting.

If you would like to update one of your published stories to improve the formatting, it’s a simple process. Please find the FAQ question titled I’ve edited my story and want to replace the published version with a new edit. How do I do that? and follow the instructions there.
