What do you think a cubic zirconia would feel if it could feel?
Would it be ashamed of its shimmer, or would it still sparkle brightly?
Some would even proclaim, sure it's beautiful, but it isn't real.
Would it know if it's disingenuous nature, or be oblivious to its own lie?
How would it feel to only be wanted when the true diamond was out of reach?

It would still sit proudly on your finger, Bound in place with a gold band.
It would still smile proudly for all to see hanging from an ungrateful lobe.
But how would it feel hearing you deny its true beauty, in favor of your shame?
Would it deny you, as you've denied it, or is that above a cubic zirconia?
Would it wish for death, knowing it will never be worth your affections?

How would it feel to only count when convenient, and to only be loved when it's the only option?
