My Black Friend:

He's proof of how not racist I am when I wave him in your face like a trump card.

Strange that you never see us together.

My Gay Friend:

He's proof that I support the LGBTQ community regardless of what my vote says.

Odd that I've never introduced him to you.

My Feminist Friend:

She's proof that I care about a woman's value in society.

Even if my porn subscriptions imply otherwise.

My Trans Friend:

She proves that I recognize her sexual identity.

Even if I occasionally fail to see her humanity.

All My Friends:

I keep them sorted and segregated so they feel safe.

They need me to show their distinctions, so you can see that I view them as equals.

Weird that you think me a bigot.

My Friends Are My Proof That I Think Everyone Is Equal:

Thats Why I'm Better Than You

Just ask my black friend.

Maybe the strongest part are the honest contrasts. Yes, no one is perfect, and there are differences between our public and private selves. Admitting that - from my very imperfect point of view - the first step to show tolerance, and so very human.
